As part of the A Statue for Ada campaign, we are proud to launch Crewe in 50 Women — a community-led project celebrating the inspirational women of Crewe, past and present.
Crewe has always been shaped by remarkable women whose courage, kindness, leadership, creativity, and quiet determination have made a difference to others. From campaigners and carers to artists, educators, mothers, leaders, and changemakers, this project aims to honour their stories and ensure they are not forgotten.
We are inviting the public to nominate women who inspire you — whether they are historical figures whose legacy still matters today, or women living and working in Crewe right now who are making a positive impact in their community.
How to Nominate
To nominate a woman, please download the nomination form and send with:
- A photograph (where possible)
- A written description explaining who she is and why she inspires you
Nominations should be emailed to:
cheshirewomenscollaboration@gmail.com
We ask for a £5 donation per nomination, which will directly support the educational and awareness work of the A Statue for Ada campaign.
Key Dates
- Closing date for nominations: 8th March 2026
- Online campaign launch: March 2026
- Public exhibition: 2027
The selected stories will form part of an online campaign launching in March, with a physical exhibition planned for 2027, showcasing the power, diversity, and legacy of women connected to Crewe.
By taking part in Crewe in 50 Women, you are helping us shine a light on women’s stories, celebrate local role models, and continue Ada Nield Chew’s legacy of equality, visibility, and social change.
